Chronic Pain: A Study in Michigan

back pain
Recently when I was working out at the gym, I saw the back of a t-shirt that read, “Results Never Lie.” It made me think of the results I have heard discussed by my patients repeatedly in my practice for 22 years. Reiki shows real results for managing chronic pain.

Reiki is an ancient Japanese touch therapy that is similar to massage. A qualified Reiki practitioner can help bring relief to your chronic pain by laying on hands on specific parts of your body or by positioning their hands slightly above your body.

In alternative medicine, Reiki is a treatment in which healing energy is channeled from the practitioner to the patient to enhance energy and reduce stress, pain, and fatigue. Practitioners say that it works by opening up a channel between healer and patient to transfer energy — a Reiki healer restores the body both physically and mentally.

During a Reiki session, muscles are relaxed, and energy flow is unblocked. This helps reduce physical tension and pain. Anxiety and stress also are reduced, helping to unblock and release emotional pain. Although you may not be completely pain-free, you feel relaxed, refreshed, and better able to cope with your condition.

Numerous studies have proven the effectiveness of Reiki. In a recent study from Michigan, researchers found that Reiki helps reduce the intensity of pain in patients, including cancer patients. In other studies, Reiki has shown to relieve pain in a broad spectrum of patients, and Reiki reduced anxiety and depression in patients, too.

Another benefit of Reiki is that it is a non-invasive treatment, and no serious side effects or risks have been identified with Reiki treatments.
